The purpose of this module is to provide an overview of the systems engineering process (SEP) that is central to the development of intelligent transportation systems (ITS) projects. The SEP is an interdisciplinary, structured process that meets the needs of the users, providers, and other stakeholders while maintaining the project schedule and budget. This module also provides an overview of related topics, including the National ITS Architecture and other architectures, the ITS Standards Program, and the use of the SEP for planning and deploying ITS projects.
